Currently in the United States of America the top two leading causes of death are Heart Disease, which is number one in the world. And the second, is Cancer. Cancer is responsible for 21 percent of the deaths of the over 350 million people that live in this country. Heart Disease is only two percentage points higher at 23. They are so significant that the third leading cause on the list sits at under ten percent, well below the top two. Heart Disease and Cancer are the most efficient killers of American society by a wide margin. And what makes the Cancer numbers interesting is the fact that the death rate of Heart Disease patients are consistent around the world, however Cancer is not. As a matter of fact, far from it.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), the richer a country becomes, the cases of cancer dramatically increase. The poorer a country is, Cancer becomes more of a non-factor. And according to the American Cancer Society the estimated number of new Cancer diagnosis cases for 2023 are right at 1 million for males and females, and the death rate for both genders are over half a million. Very alarming.
There are several reasons that contribute to this, and most are not due to family genetics. It is directly linked to a high demand for consumption, as well as a need for profit.
The consumption of the food that we eat, the water and other beverages we ingest and bathe in, and lack of exercise, to name a few. When you include that the majority of people’s assumptions of what they are eating and drinking is safe to ingest simply because the location is popular, waiting until an emergency occurs before getting check ups at medical facilities, and in some cases getting misinformation from many doctors even when they do get medical advice, only adds to the mortality rates.
And then there’s the money. With the need for profit being so great that assuming, responsible corporations take great leisure in ensuring the safe production of the food that we eat daily, poisoning the very air that we breathe and producing thousands of needed medication prescriptions that come with harmful side effects to the human body. This ultimately masking one health problem only to create one, or several others in the process. It turns into a revolving door for profit primarily through insurance and co-payments. And lastly, sad to say, but Cancer is a multi-trillion dollar business. Each new diagnosis is potential long term money stream.
To accommodate the needs and wants of a nation such as the United States, certain safety concessions must be made and overlooked in order to provide the comforts and convenience that we have become so accustomed to. Faster food, law enforcement arrest and imprisonment quotas, doctor patient ratio quotas, etc.
This explains why the richer the country is, the higher the rate of a disease such as Cancer, that comes in so many forms due to the means initiated to create such societal conveniences.
Of course, there are a fortunate few who are able to medically force a Cancer diagnosis into remission to the point where they can live a near Cancer free life. And there are also those fortunate few who fall into the ‘miracle’ category where the diagnosis simply goes away without explanation. But for the overwhelming majority of patients who are diagnosed, they are not that fortunate.
According to author Joe Dispenza, “By the time the average person reaches the age of 35 they are already hard wired to follow the same patterns that have been engrained thus far”. This quote touches on the difficulty that the average patient has to accept in order to significantly change their habits and lifestyle practices in order to give themselves a fighting chance at longer life.
It’s best to get started early to head off any potential diagnosis, or be aware of information that can assist you in your journey as a Cancer patient. Now the question becomes, what do you do?
The first step should be to follow up with your doctors until you are assigned a main Cancer doctor, otherwise known as an Oncologist, that you are comfortable with. Next, ask questions in a polite and consistent manner until you are clear on every aspect of your treatment. Doctors can see dozens of patients in a single day, so advocating for yourself by doing your due diligence in reading and researching about your diagnosis, the medications you’re taking, and possible natural supplements can go a long way.
Next, learn and monitor the acronyms listed on your labwork. Again, your doctor sees lots of patients daily, they do not have time to explain every detail to every patient, every day. During some visits important information may be missed and not revealed, or mistakenly underestimated. Familiarize yourself with your body on a cellular level from your bloodwork and how you feel in accordance with your lab numbers, medications taken, etc, in order to be more efficient in your treatment.

Your diet, exercise regimen and ability to get solid sleep are huge contributing factors, along with a good emotional support system of family and friends. Your mental state, focusing on positivity as much as possible, is critical and highly underestimated in your journey. Also, finding physical activities that you can comfortably do, as well as being in environments that induce laughter and feelings of motivation are also incredible tools for healing.
