**Diagnoses That Effect The Population The Most**

The two leading causes of death in the United States are Heart Diseases (31%) and Cancer (22%), and by a large margin from the rest of the list. The next diagnosis in line drops down to 9%, barely into the double digits.

There are lists of the many examples of heart diseases and forms of Cancer that are prominent. Below you wIll see the main causes listed that lead to heart disease and various forms of Cancer, and practices that can help heal them (and other less aggressive conditions) before they lead to a more dire diagnosis.

**Now, how do you best detect these illnesses if you are not made aware by your medical specialist ahead of time?  One way is to KNOW YOUR BLOODWORK.  Understanding what the acronyms and their ‘normal and abnormal’ ranges are on your lab-work can be the difference between life, extreme sickness and even death.  Below you will find many of the common acronyms on your lab-work and what they mean.  Familiarize yourself as much as possible for yourself or even your loved ones.  If you notice things out of range, address them with your doctor. 

Common Lab-Work Acronyms To Pay Attention To

 

WBC  (White Blood Cell Count) – Immune System Cells

Considered normal range – 4000 - 11000

RBC  (Red Blood Cell Count) - Considered normal range  4.6 – 6.1    

HMG  (Hemoglobin) – level of oxygen in red blood cells Considered normal range  -  13.5 – 18.0

PLT  (Platelet Count)  -  Considered normal range  -  130 - 400

Glucose -  Amount of sugar in blood  -   Considered normal range  65 - 100

H1ac -  Calculation regarding Diabetes  -  Considered normal range  5.0 – 5.6

Sodium  Amount of salt in the blood  -  Considered normal range -  135 - 145

Potassium - Considered normal range  -  3.5 – 5.5

Creatinine -  Kidney Function  -  Considered normal range  -  0.6 -  1.2

eGFR  (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) – How well kidneys are working to filter out what the body doesn’t need to properly function -  Considered normal range  -  Above 60

BUN  (Blood Urea Nitrogen)  -  Considered normal range  - 5 – 25

AST (SGOT) Liver Function  -  Considered normal range  - 14 - 50

ALT (SGPT)  Liver Function  -  Considered normal range  - <50 U/L

Magnesium -  Considered normal range  -   1.7 – 2.2

Calcium  -  Considered normal range  -   8.7 -  10.2

Cholesterol  -  Considered normal range -  100 - 199
